Threshold Learning Outcomes for Engineering and ICT
The Organised:
Throughout my undergraduate studies of a Bachelor of Industrial Design, attaining a high GPA required me to have capabilities for self-organization, self-review, personal development, and lifelong learning.
One experience that stands out to me is when I had to balance several competing demands, including coursework, an internship, and extracurricular activities. In order to manage my time effectively, I developed a schedule that allowed me to prioritize my tasks and allocate my time appropriately. This involved breaking down larger tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks and setting specific goals for each day or week.
I also utilized self-review as a primary means of managing my continuing professional development. This involved regularly setting aside time to reflect on my performance and identify areas for improvement. For example, after completing a project or assignment, I took the time to review my work and consider what I did well and what could have been done better. This helped me to identify any gaps in my knowledge or skills and take steps to address them through further learning and development.
In addition to self-review, I also engaged in personal development activities such as taking online courses and attending professional development workshops. This allowed me to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in my field and acquire new skills that were beneficial in my academic and professional endeavours.
Overall, by consistently applying these skills of self-organization, self-review, personal development, and lifelong learning, I was able to achieve a high GPA and consistently produce high quality work.
Some of the highlight skills I developed through this TLO include:
- Earning the trust and confidence of colleagues through competent and timely completion of tasks
- Demonstrating commitment to critical self-review and performance evaluation against appropriate criteria as a primary means of tracking personal development needs and achievements
- Managing time and processes effectively, prioritises competing demands to achieve personal, career and organisational goals and objectives
